Tag the Bag

Here’s a quick and easy idea for when you’re approaching your fundraising goal but have a few hundred dollars more to raise. Traditionally used to help fund adoptions, tag the bag fundraisers just require the piece of luggage that you're going to be bringing to NTSA this summer (i.e. your duffle bag or backpack). For a small donation, supporters can write a good luck message on your luggage in permanent marker. Not only will you have some heartfelt messages to read when you arrive, you’ll also have a keepsake that’ll remind you of everyone who supports your dreams. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be packing up this same piece of luggage in a few years when you head off to your college BFA program. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved!

This is an especially great project for a parent or friend to lead. The messaging is better coming from someone who isn’t you: “Every time [NAME] looks at this suitcase, she’ll remember just how much we believe in her and how proud we are of her performing in New York City!” Since your high school friends probably won’t be traveling across the country to watch you perform, this is a great way for them to still be a part of your NTSA experience!

You can suggest a donation amount like $25, but donors are usually free to choose how much they want to give for this fundraiser. That’s why we recommend not using this one until the very end of your fundraising campaign when you’re trying to bring in the last $250-500. This could also be a reward that you give anyone who participates in your crowdfunding campaign. (They can send in their message via the crowdfunding site when they donate!)
