Grub Grab

The Grub Grab can easily be integrated into any fundraising event. Go around to local restaurants in your neighborhood and ask for gift cards or gift certificates. (Most restaurants are willing to give these out for a good cause!) Gift certificates almost always sell out during fundraising events, and they almost always sell for the full amount listed on the certificate. Fundraisers recommend setting up a Grub Grab station at your event, where supporters can purchase donated restaurant gift certificates at face value. Supporters can just walk up, pick their gift certificate, and pay their money. Simple!

This only works with fixed dollar gift certificates (ex. $50 at Cole’s), as opposed to non-fixed dollar gift certificates (ex. dinner for four at Cole’s). Non-fixed dollar gift certificates should be included in a raffle or a silent auction because everyone has a different idea about how much “dinner for four” is worth. You can collect these gift certificates from anywhere! From a $5 gift card from Starbucks to a $250 gift certificate from your local high-end steakhouse, gift certificates are a simple way for you to raise some money. Make sure that you start collecting gift certificates more than 30 days before your event. Fundraisers recommend that you stick with food instead of branching off into gift certificates for things like “free haircut” or “free hotel staycation.” Stick those items into a raffle or a silent auction instead. Place your Grub Grab table somewhere central at your event, and it will usually sell out fast! (Don’t offer discounts on any of your gift cards until the very end of the evening.)

Bonus: Any restaurants that donate gift cards to your Grub Grab count towards your sponsorship requirement!
